Anti-Inflammatory Foods
35% of Americans suffer from chronic inflammation conditions - I couldn't find any figures for the Hungarian populations, but sadly, it is unlikely to be much better.
🔥 Chronic Inflammation & the Role of Diet
🧠 Inflammatory issues can occur at various levels (tissue, organs, etc.) and are becoming increasingly common as people’s diets shift towards more ultra-processed foods.
⚠️ It’s important to remember: inflammation isn’t always a bad thing – it’s the body’s natural immune response.
But with the wrong diet, the immune system may stay in a constantly triggered, low-level state, which can lead to long-term chronic complications.
🥦 The Good News:
Many vegetables and fruits are powerful allies in calming the immune system and bringing the body back to a normal, restful state.
👩⚕️ Professor Tim Spector and Dr. Federica Amati recommend these 7 foods to help reduce chronic inflammation:
✅ 7 Anti-Inflammatory Superfoods
-
Broccoli
→ A great all-around health hero. (Sadly not in season right now – but keep an eye out!) -
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
→ Pricey, but perfect raw on salads. The more peppery the aftertaste, the better the quality. -
Dark Chocolate (80% or higher)
→ Indulge yourselves – guilt-free and full of polyphenols! Try Dutch Cocoa Powder as an alternative. -
Chia Seeds
→ Rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, a good plant-based protein source, and high in digestible fiber. -
Turmeric (with black pepper)
→ Especially good for reducing joint swelling – best absorbed when combined with black pepper. -
Raspberries
→ Packed with colorful polyphenols. (Not in season – but consider freezing them when they are!) -
Sauerkraut
→ I recommend Zsámboki Biokert Kimchi as a delicious local alternative

🌿 Bonus Tip: Chicory & Endive Family
These less popular but powerful greens can benefit a wide range of chronic conditions – including inflammation.
✔️ We often have endive mix salad available, and occasionally our own deliciously bitter Radicchio.
We’ll highlight it again when it’s back in season!
