Run up to Christmas 2025
Like for many other businesses, the run up to Christmas is a very busy, with regular weekly harvesting, pre-packing, making up orders and deliveries, as well as the background farming work.
At this time of year we are very much thinking about what is going to be where and in what quantities for the 2026 season. This week Matthew has been getting the "field vegetable" areas prepared for their winter meditation - this means harvesting the last of the outdoor field crops and cultivating the beds with our much-loved vintage Fenyt horticultural tractor.
Csaba is already very busy planning all of the bio-intensive and protected cropping vegetable areas for 2026. This means a lot of time pouring over Excel files, to make sure all planned crops fit correctly into our crop rotations, as well as putting together seed orders, and making seed inventories.
2025 was an experiemental year for us with field vegetable production (mechanised production) - this was led this year by Matthew, and we have decided to continue with the field veg production and expand it in 2026. We had good success with many of the field vegetables (carrots, beetroot, potatoes, turnips, black radish, etc.) and we hope we can do even better in 2026 - so Matthew is also sitting down with the seed catalogues planning, and dreaming about the lovely vegetables we hope to have this coming year.
Finally, We wish you a very Happy Chrismas and peaceful, restful holidays!
