Braised pak choi with mushrooms
Pak choi has arrived - prepare it this way with Asian inspiration
Fresh pak choi has arrived at Zsámboki Biokert — a staple of Chinese cooking, now available from us! This simple, Asian-inspired dish pairs pak choi with our brown mushrooms in a silky, umami-rich sauce. Serve with rice for a quick weeknight dinner.
Add to your basket:
- 2–3 heads Organic Pak Choi (The star of the week — new in our range!)
- 250 g Organic mushrooms (Meaty and flavourful — a perfect substitute for shiitake)
- 1 tsp Organic garlic paste (For the aromatic base)
- ½ tsp Organic ground ginger (For warmth and a gentle kick)
- 1 tbsp Soy sauce (unfortunately only available elsewhere for now — we're working on it)
- 1 tsp Sesame oil (unfortunately only available elsewhere for now — we're working on it)
Method: Slice the mushrooms and quarter the pak choi lengthways. Heat oil in a wok or pan over medium-high heat, add the garlic cream and ground ginger and stir for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the mushrooms and cook for 3–4 minutes until golden. Pour in the soy sauce and 100ml of water, bring to a boil and leave to reduce for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened. Meanwhile, blanch the pak choi in a separate pan of salted boiling water for 1 minute, then drain. Arrange the pak choi on a plate, spoon over the mushrooms and sauce, and finish with a drizzle of sesame oil.
