Despite the frequent showers and downpours we were able to make very good progress this week. At the beginning of the week we took advantage of the wet weather outside to finish planting and stringing up the rest of the tomatoes, peppers and aubergines in our high tunnels - these are now all happily and healthily in place for what we hope will be a good summer season. When we had a break in the rains and after a windy day on Tuesday, which dried out the outside beds enough to hoe, Logan, Csaba and Levente, with the help of our loyal French volunteers and interns made a concerted effort to hoe wherever we could. Keeping on top of the weeds is critical at this time of year, as it determines whether we can manage most things with a hoe (quick), or are forced into handweeding (very slow!). The garden looks good and we are glad to have such a solid team.
