Palántázó második bőre / The Second Skin of the Propagation Tunnel

A hét nagy sikere a palántázónk második rétegének felállítása volt. Hamarosan elkezdjük az eljövendő szezon vetéseit és palánátink nevelését is. Ehhez kicsit újragondoljuk és átrendezzük a palántázó kialakítását. A második "bőr" felhúzásával a szigetelés lesz hatékonyabb - illetve a fólián belül is nagy átalakításokat tervezünk - melyekről majd itt fogunk írni. Kicsit rögtönözve bár, de felállítottuk a második réteget. Épphogy készen álltunk a második rétegre, de ahogy láttuk az időjárás-előrejelzést, hideg téli időt jósolva, így muszáj volt nekilátnunk ennek a munkának. Kiástunk egy árkot az új fóliának, és kedden előkészítettünk a szükséges struktúrát hozzá, amikor az idő még jó volt, de nem tudtuk befejezni aznap. Szerdán már elég erősen fújt a szél, és egyre hidegebb is lett. de tudtunk, hogy most vagy soha, (pár nap vagy hét múlva, ki tudja) meg kellett kockáztatnunk aznap. Így csapattagjainkkal és szomszédaink segítségével sikerült felállítani a második fóliát a szeles idő ellenére! Így most már nyugodt lélekkel készülhetünk a belső átalakításokra.

Definitely, the success of the week has been putting a second polythene cover on our propagation tunnel. Before long we will start the new season of seed sowing and plant raising. In preparation for this we are re-organising and upgrading our propagation tunnel. Putting a second "skin" on the tunnel will help to improve insulation - we also plan to make some layout changes within the tunnel (watch this space!). It was a bit touch-and-go this week. We were only able to get things prepared for putting on a second cover this week, then looking at the weather forecast we could see that as the week developed things were just going to get more wintery. We dug out a trench for the new polythene and got the structure prepared on Tuesday, when the weather was fine, but we were unable that day to get the polythene cover on. On Wednesday morning the wind was already blowing and temperatures dropping, but we knew that we needed to take a risk. If we didn't cover the tunnel that day we might not have another opportunity for a week or two, or who knows? So, we chanced it, and with the good help of our own team and inviting in some help from neighbours (thank you Zoli and the boys!), we managed to put the cover on despite windy conditions. So now we can start to make the changes we need inside the tunnel.
