Befejeztük a szabadtéri termények betakarítását a jövő évekre előkészítendő területekről. Ezután már jöhetett a kistraktor, ásógéppel felszerelve, hogy előkészítse a földet az áttelelésre. A legtöbb talajmunkát hűséges munkatársunkkal Sárival végezzük, de erre a területre egy új ágyásrendszert tervezünk a következő szezonra, és az ásógép mélyebben műveli a földet mint Sári.
Eldöntöttük, hogy áttérünk az állandó ágyásos művelésre, ami már jól bevált más, a hozzánk hasonló léptékben termelő gazdaságoknál. We finished harvesting the last of the outdoor crops from next years vegetable area, and yesterday a contractor came with a spade cultivator (ásőgép) to cultivate the land in preparation for winter. We do most of our cultivations with Sári, our loyal horse, but for this area we are planning a new type of bed system for the new season, and the spade cultivator can work the soil deeper than Sari.
We have decided to move over to a permanent bed system, which by all accounts is working well on other farms of our scale. The advantage of a permanent bed system is that the paths and beds remain in the same place year after year, and the soil in the beds never gets compacted or turned over, so a more rich soil ecology can develop in the soil.
